Tips For Preparing Easy To Make Healthy Dinner Meals

For most families, dinner is the most important meal of the day. It is that only part of the day wherein all family members are present and everyone can catch up on all the important familial and school matters. Parents who are in charge of preparing dinner will also have more time to cook and won’t have to feel rushed about making the night’s meal, unlike during breakfast, when everyone has to hurry to go to work or school.

Since dinner is usually the only time during the day that everyone can be present at the table, you will certainly want to spend less time preparing the meal and more on conversing with the family. As such, it would be helpful to know some tips for preparing easy to make dinner meals that are healthy and delicious, too. Below are some of these tips you can follow for making easy to cook yet healthy dinner meals:

• Create a dinner meal plan. Set aside some time during the weekends (when you’re free) to come up with a dinner meal plan for the week. Make sure your meal plan has healthy recipes. As such, don’t forget to incorporate whole grains, greens, lean proteins, and other healthy and nutritious ingredients.

• Set aside time to make some prep works as well. When you have some free time, do the necessary food prep tasks, too. This means peeling and cutting vegetables and fruits and storing them properly in the refrigerator. You can also chop some additional fruits and vegetables so that you can have extra ones for everyone to snack on or to add to other meals.

• You can also make sure you will always incorporate healthy vegetables in your meals without spending too much time on prep work by buying pre-cut fresh vegetables such as broccoli, squash, and mushrooms.

• Always store and use healthy cooking staples. For easy, healthy food preparation, always keep your staples handy. These include extra-virgin olive oil, egg substitutes, and fat-free or light soymilk. Leading nutritionists recommend using extra-virgin olive oil in a spray bottle because this is a sure and an easier way to reduce the fat and calorie content of a dish.

• Modify your cooking methods. Lastly, by changing the usual way you cook, you can effectively reduce everyone’s fat and calorie intake. As such, if you’re always pan-frying chicken, consider baking or broiling it. You’ll spend less time watching what you cook while serving and eating healthier dishes. Grilling, broiling, or poaching fish is a healthier option as well. You can also avoid using too much oil by microwaving diced vegetables such as onions and greens instead of frying them.

Reiki Tips and Tricks For a Healthy Lifestyle

In 1922, Mikao experienced satori, this means a brief flash of enlightenment. This is when he received Reiki from that spiritual experience. He had been working hard on spiritual development and went to Mt Kurama, to seek enlightenment, through a regimen of fasting and praying for 21 days. He wasn’t looking for an ancient system of healing, or any system of healing. However, Reiki came looking for him.

If we honor Usui then we should also honor his own words. In his Reiki Ryoho Handbook, Usui says, “Our Reiki Ryoho is something absolutely original and cannot be compared with any other (spiritual) path in the world.” And he later says,” I was not initiated into this method by anyone in the universe. I also did not have to make any efforts to achieve supernormal healing powers. While I fasted, I touched an intense energy and in a mysterious manner, I was inspired. It became clear to me that I had been given the spiritual art of healing.”

Hyakuten Inamoto, a Reiki Master and Buddhist monk from Kyoto, Japan, has studied the sutras, visited Usui’s village and continues to do extensive research on Mikao Usui and the origin of Reiki. It is his determination that there is no connection between Reiki and Buddhism. Even William Rand has now acknowledged, on his web site, that Usui originated the healing system that he taught, that it has no connection to Buddhism, Tibetan Buddhism, Tibetan shamanism or any other religion, and that no researcher has ever found a Tibetan sutra with Reiki symbols in it.

The healing technique is based on the idea that everything in the universe is made up of energy and this life force energy flows around us and through us nourishing our cells, organs, and glands. When one’s energy is low, imbalanced, or restricted by stress, injury, or illness, we are more susceptible to discomfort, further illness and disease. When one’s energy is high or balanced, one is more likely to feel relaxed and the body’s own innate healing abilities are awakened and utilized for healing.

Now that we know where Reiki has originated from, here are some useful tips and tricks that have helped me as a Reiki I, II and during my Mastership. First, when we spend time judging people, we are taking away from time we should be loving them. Love everyone. If you can’t, then silently bless them. Leave your ego behind. Before I work on a person or animal or thing, I ask that the universe help to remove my ego. By doing this, I am leaving judgements and personal projections out the door. This will open your mind to receive Reiki energy and impressions about that person that could be helpful for them. Eat healthy!

By treating your body like a vessel, which you want clean and clear, eat lots or fruits, veggies, lean protein, whole grains. Stay away from flours, sugars, and stimulants as much as possible because these items can clog your energy. Drink lots of water. Water removes toxins from the body better than anything. I try to drink half my body weight in ounces. Yes, this does make you go pee alot, but I know that every time I have to go #1, I’m taking more toxins out of my body and washing my vessel to make it clean and clear. Lastly, service to mankind. By helping others you are opening up your energy to the universe. This makes you more compassionate and selfless, thus learning the true meaning of love. These small tips and tricks will lead you to a healthier lifestyle and a happier person.

7 Tips for a Healthy Digestive System

Having a healthy digestive system is extremely important. Whether you are an athlete bodybuilder or average Joe, it's important for your body to break down and digest foods and convert them into energy as efficiently as possible.

"Your digestive system breaks down the foods you eat into the nutrients your body needs. If you neglect your digestive health, your body could run into problems digesting foods and absorbing those nutrients," says Krisha McCoy on Everyday Health.

For some of us, digestive discomfort has become a fact of life, like never getting enough sleep or having too much to do. We complain about everyday ailments such as occasional gas, bloating and irregularity, assuming they are inevitable. But they don't have to be. By paying attention and making a few simple changes, you can help your digestive system do the job it was made to do – absorbing nutrients and keeping things running smoothly. Learn what you can do today to help take care of your digestive system.

Tips for Good Digestive Health

Good digestive health starts with making healthy food and lifestyle choices. Here are some effective tips to improve your digestive health:

Eat a high-fiber diet: No surprise here. Consuming a diet that is high in fiber will keep foods moving through your digestive tract. It can also help prevent a number of common digestive issues such as constipation, IBS, and others.

Stay hydrated: Always drink plenty of water. Water helps your body dissolve fats and fiber and helps things move through your system more efficiently.

Add probiotics into your diet: Probiotics are healthy bacteria that exist in your digestive tract. Adding more to your diet through food and supplementation will help keep your body healthy. Low fat yogurt, sourdough bread, sour pickles and kimchi are a great source of probiotics. Want to include more probiotics into your diet?

Cleanse and detox: Performing a cleanse on occasion will help your body refresh and recharge, and allow your digestive system to reset.

Limit consumption of processed foods: It's always best to choose fresh, high quality food sources such as fruits, vegetables, and lean meats over processed and high fat food options.

Exercise regularly: Exercise helps keep food moving through your system as it uses the food you consume for energy. It also helps you maintain a healthy weight, something else that will improve your digestion.

Eat on a schedule: Your body loves routine. Eating frequent, smaller meals and snacks will keep your digestive system working effectively and efficiently.

Following these tips will ensure that your digestive system is working optimally, something that will keep you healthy, full of energy and in a position to achieve your fitness goals.

You must take steps to eat simple and healthy and avoid feeling hungry.

When hunger is high the chances of anyone sticking to a diet decline significantly, the chances of binging also greatly increase. So taking steps to eat enough good healthy food, and reduce hunger levels is essential. So here’s what you need to know:

What to eat to lose weight? – Some diet plans go the extreme and only instruct participants to nibble on foods in order to slim down. If you guessed that eating like a rabbit isn’t the basis of an organized effective weight loss strategy, you would be correct. Such extreme measure are never conducive to healthy weight loss, and may even be dangerous.

Yes you need to reduce the overall amount of calories you consume in a day, but you need make a concerted effort to make the calories you do consume good calories. Focus on the kinds of foods you can afford to eat in quantities that satisfy your hunger without accumulating unnecessary calories. Fatty foods contain the highest amounts of calories followed by sugar-latent ones. It goes without saying, but Fast Food and processed foods are always high in calories. It may be more convenient to grab some food on the go, but you are only hurting yourself in the end.

Chicken and Fish – Both contain lean protein and are excellent as part of your diet. All forms of meat that contain small amounts of cholesterol should be part of your diet. For example, eating large quantities of fish shouldn’t negatively impact on you weight loss program. The only precaution is to make sure that you do not use too much fatty oil while cooking it. Some people suggest you do not eat the skin in order to cut calories, but the skin contains some nutritional value itself and flavor, so there’s a trade-off for you to make.

Fruits – Fruits are vital to a long-term weight loss program. They help to increase your metabolism and burn your body’s excess energy, and thus fat. Do not eat fruits alone, you are most likely going to develop iron deficiency anemia if you do so. Fruits add an important component to your fat burning campaign. There are also a variety of fruits and vegetables available throughout the year, so this adds some room for you to add variety to your diet, and makes it less likely you will get bored with your meal plan.

Beans – Beans are an excellent food for weight watchers. Beans are a nutrient-rich food and contain a variety of important proteins. They also tend to have some a high amount of carbohydrates, so be mindful of this when serving them as a side dish.

Diary – Low-fat milk is widely available at most consumer markets. Cottage cheese and yogurt are two other effective weight loss foods. Losing weight dictates a lifestyle change, so you must be prepared if you want to attain your goals.

Eat Regularly – Again I stress, be sure that you’re eating regularly. If you maintain frequent meals, you won’t suffer from low blood sugar levels and it’s this low blood sugar level that increases your hunger. Don’t be a rabbit and nibble and pick at food all throughout the day. Aim to eat every three to four hours and you’ll see a significant reduction in your appetite. By keeping a regular schedule throughout the day, you are able to train your body out of its’ bad habits.

Keep Carbohydrate Levels Moderate – If you want to quickly lower your hunger level, one thing you can do is reduce the carbohydrate content of your diet plan. There are three primary nutrients that are needed for a body to keep functioning properly taken together called macro-nutrients: proteins, carbs, and dietary fats. Of these, carbohydrates are the ones that will boost your appetite the most. Thus, controlling, not eliminating carbs, will keep your body in proper health and help weight loss.

By keeping your carbohydrate intake lower and pairing any carbs you do eat with proteins, you can eliminate the need for you to nibble on empty calorie snacks before and after meals.

Get Enough Sleep – Finally, don’t forget to get in enough sleep each night. Sleep is going to be critical for any weight loss success. Those who don’t get enough sleep at night notice an increase in their appetite the next day, due to the body craving a quick source of energy due to fatigue. A regular sleep pattern along with a regular food schedule greatly increase the success rate of any weight loss program.

Healthy eating habits combined with regular exercise and fat burners, in some cases, are needed to help you achieve weight loss naturally. Healthy Chicken Recipes – 4 Tips For Awesome, Flavorsome Food

As we enter the beginning of a New Year many people will have resolved to lose weight and with this in mind I am going to give you some tips to cook healthy chicken recipes that will flood your taste buds with amazing flavor but also help as part of a calorie controlled diet.

But first of all, here are a few fun facts that you may not know about the chicken.

There are more chickens on earth than there are human beings

A chicken bred with a turkey is called a “Turken” which has the head of a turkey and the body of a chicken.

The United States has 4 cities with the word “chicken” in them: Chicken Town, Pennsylvania, Chicken Bristle, Kentucky, Chicken Alaska and Chicken Bristle Illinois.

The largest amount of yolks ever found in a single chicken’s egg is 9.

Anyway, enough of that and on to some tips for creating healthy chicken recipes. Chicken is a very popular meat to cook because its subtle flavors adapt well to many different dishes and methods of cooking. It is also high in protein and has less fat than red meat. Having said that, however, many Americans buy boneless, skinnned chicken breasts and cooked wrongly, these can soon end up dry and tough as old boots, which leads me into my first tip.

1. When it comes to basic cooking there are two different methods: dry heat and moist heat. Dry heat includes baking, roasting, frying and grilling and moist heat includes poaching, steaming, microwaving and slow cooking. When using dry heat for chicken breasts, use a high heat and cook for a matter of minutes. Grilled chicken cooks in about 8-10 minutes. When using moist heat to cook chicken breasts they will take longer, but only about 15 minutes (depending on the thickness of the breasts).

2. Chicken crockpot recipes are always popular especially with working moms and nothing beats the smell of slow cooked chicken as you come through the door. In order to make these recipes both healthy and tasty, I would recommend that you use chicken thighs. So many people overlook chicken thighs and choose breast, but thighs are much more flavorsome and incredibly cheap. Remove all the skin and brown them all over in a pan before removing them with a slotted spoon and adding them to your favorite crockpot recipe. They will happily cook in a crockpot, retaining both moisture and flavor. Try adding some fruit like dried apricot or prunes as these work really well with chicken and help to bulk out the dish.

3. Try getting lots of flavor into your chicken, whether it be breasts or thighs, by marinating for several hours prior to cooking. A sweet and sour marinade consisting of honey, soy sauce, olive oil, and chill works well and if you pour the entire contents into your pan to cook the chicken, you will end up with delicious, tasty, sticky chicken which works really well with stir fried vegetables or a green salad.

4. Shake and bake chicken is another great way to pep up the humble chicken and keep the fat content low. You can make your own seasoning with a basic crumb mix and what you add to this is entirely up to you, but some good combinations include lemon zest and cracked black pepper, crumbled Parmesan cheese, or even some curry powder for a taste of India. Chicken, oven baked in this way, retains the moisture inside whilst becoming nice and crunchy on the outside and is always a winner with the kids.

Use these tips and don’t be afraid to get creative and experiment with marinades and seasonings. When it comes to healthy chicken recipes the only limit is your imagination.

3 Tips to Creating a Healthy Lifestyle

Everyone wants a healthier lifestyle and be able to live a long life. Most folks know they need to eat less and exercise more, but to live a truly healthy lifestyle means so much more. Creating a healthy lifestyle means adopting a healthy nutrition regimen, moving your body as well as reducing stress and maintaining a positive outlook. While it may seem as if many changes need to be made to adopt a healthy lifestyle, there are some simple ways to begin your healthier regimen. Below, you’ll find three core tips to living a healthy lifestyle.

1. Create a healthy nutrition regimen. One of the biggest factors to living a healthy lifestyle is to adopt a healthy eating plan. Make sure to get in a good balance of protein, healthy fats and healthy carbohydrates from fruits and vegetables each day. Reduce or eliminate the amount of processed foods, fast food and soda you consume in a day. The amount of “empty food” being consumed by people each day is staggering and should be reduced drastically or eliminated completely. Eliminating these alone and committing to eating more fresh, whole foods would easily help to increase health and induce weight loss. It’s also important to make sure your body is fully hydrated. Water will not only support your metabolism in weight loss but will also aid in your body’s absorption of essential nutrients.

2. Moving daily has to also be a commitment in a healthy lifestyle or weight loss plan. This doesn’t mean everyone has to run out and join a gym, it simply means people need to move more – whether it’s walking, hiking or swimming. Getting out and moving not only helps improve your body it also helps improve your mind and this is the key piece to a successful Weight Loss plan. We are living in a time starved world and most people have very busy lifestyles which means we are moving less. Moving your body not only helps you burn calories but also helps lubricate the joints and challenges your balance.

3. Think positive and reduce stress. Creating a healthy lifestyle is about focusing on gratitude and being committed to positive thinking. This has long been associated with folks who live a healthy life. Stress and negative thinking leads to the production of cortisol which leads to weight gain. In addition, having a more positive attitude leads to a healthier immune system. Your body responds to what your brain tells it, so it is important to constantly feed your body the message that it is healthy and happy. Pretty soon you start to believe it as your mind and your body become more fit. You will soon notice that everything starts to fall into place. You begin to sleep better because you are exercising more and you are eating better because you feel better.

Exercise, eating right and a positive attitude are what is needed to live that healthy lifestyle you always wanted. Start taking steps toward your healthy lifestyle today. Remember to set attainable goals, take baby steps toward your new healthy regimen and make sure your new healthy plan fits into your lifestyle.

8 Tips For Eating Healthy While Traveling

If you travel for work or pleasure, you know that healthy food can sometimes be hard to come by. Or I should at least say there are so many temptations out there that the healthy options seem few and far between. Being prepared is 75% of the battle when it comes to eating healthy while traveling. It definitely requires a little planning and a special nutritional strategy. Luckily, you can adhere to your healthy eating plan with a little extra work. These 8 tips for healthy eating while traveling provide some solid ideas to staying on track while on the go.

1. Location – When you’re choosing where to stay, it’s all about location. Let’s say you’re traveling for work and you’ll be in the same location for at least a few days. Finding a spot that’s close to healthy resources is key. Is there a grocery store nearby that you can run to for healthy snacks and/or meals? Are there healthy cafes or restaurants within walking distance that you can stop in for a bite to eat? It’s easy to make the excuse that you can’t eat healthy while on the road if there aren’t good options around you. Don’t make that your excuse. Choose as wisely as you can to set yourself up for success.

2. Accommodations With A Kitchen or Kitchenette – One of the best ways to ensure healthy eating while traveling is to have access to some type of kitchen. Extended stay hotels, vacation rentals and Air B & B are all great options if convenient to your location. If a kitchen isn’t available, having a refrigerator in your hotel room for some healthy options is a great alternative. The point being that if you have either a kitchen or a refrigerator, you have the ability stock up with good snacks and easy meals. Things like fresh fruit and vegetables, bottled water, cottage cheese, greek yogurt, nuts, natural peanut butter, rotisserie chicken and canned fish are fantastic options that are easy to store and don’t require a lot of prep work to create a quick meal or snack.

3. Ship Items Before – Another strategy would be to ship your favorite dry goods to your location before hand. Protein powder, beans, nuts, canned tuna, bread and quick cooking oats are all items you could have sent prior to your arrival so that you have some healthy options waiting for you.

4. Carry A Cooler – Tote your health food around with you. Stock a cooler full of your favorite healthy snacks, sandwiches, bottled water and anything you need for the day. This options works well if you can drive to your location and bring your cooler with you. If you’re flying, you’ll need a collapsible cooler to pack in your suitcase.

5. Research Restaurants In The Area – Do your research before you go. Even if you have access to a kitchen or a refrigerator, you still may want or need to eat for a few meals. Find out what restaurants are in the area and which menus offer healthy options that interest you. You can plan any outings to one of these restaurants and know what you’re going to eat when you walk in the door.

6. Protein Powder – Protein is often the hardest thing to come by. Healthy eating on the go is made much easier if you can bring some protein powder with you. Even it it’s a back up, you know you have a good protein source to go to if you can’t find a viable option. Sometimes your healthy eating strategy might require using a combination of options. For example, finding some fruit and vegetables might be easy but grabbing a protein source might be pretty expensive. In certain cases, protein powder can fill in the gaps.

7. Supergreen Supplement – It’s often times very difficult to get the correct amount of vegetables in when traveling. This is the perfect time to incorporate a great supplement like Amazing Grass, Green Defense or Greens +. A supplement is just that – a way to supplement your diet. While this shouldn’t be your mainstay to getting in vegetables, it can always be used as a way to up your micronutrient intake and get some greens into your diet.

8. Bring Homemade Snacks – Bring homemade non-perishable snacks with you. Homemade granola or protein bars, protein muffins, kale chips and homemade granola or trail mix are all wonderful options to take with you. If you have healthy food with you, chances are that you’ll eat that healthy food rather than seeking out the junky stuff.

If you’ll notice (or maybe you already have), the common theme here is that you need to be prepared. If you’re committed to a goal of weight loss, a health goal or just want to ensure you’re eating good quality meals, you’ve got to set yourself up for success. Healthy eating while traveling is totally doable but it does require a bit of planning and strategy to make it work.
